1. Your Right to Opt Out
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and similar laws in other states, you have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information.
What This Means
Under California law, "sale" and "sharing" have broad definitions that may include:
- Sharing your information with advertising partners for targeted advertising
- Using cookies and tracking technologies that allow third parties to collect your data
- Disclosing your information to third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising
When you opt out, we will:
- Stop sharing your personal information with third-party advertising partners
- Disable non-essential advertising and tracking cookies
- Remove you from retargeting audiences on platforms like Google, Meta, and LinkedIn
- Continue to provide you with our services and essential website functionality
What This Does NOT Affect
Opting out will NOT affect:
- Our ability to provide essential website services
- Service provider relationships necessary to operate our business
- Communications you've specifically requested (e.g., newsletter subscriptions)
- Legally required disclosures
- Information shared with your consent for non-advertising purposes
2. How to Opt Out
You have several options to exercise your right to opt out:
Option 1: Submit a Request by Email
Send an email to legal@getmemoria.ai with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share Request" and include:
- Your full name
- Email address associated with any interactions with us
- State of residence
- Statement that you wish to opt out of the sale/sharing of your personal information
Option 2: Enable Global Privacy Control (GPC)
Global Privacy Control is a browser-level signal that automatically communicates your opt-out preference to websites you visit. We honor GPC signals as a valid opt-out request.
How to enable GPC:
- Firefox: Built-in support in privacy settings
- Brave: Built-in support, enabled by default
- DuckDuckGo: Built-in support in the DuckDuckGo browser
- Chrome/Edge: Install the Privacy Badger or OptMeowt browser extension
When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we will: automatically treat it as an opt-out of sale/sharing, disable non-essential tracking cookies, and limit data collection to essential purposes only.
Option 3: Adjust Cookie Preferences
You can manage your cookie preferences directly through our cookie consent banner or by visiting our Cookie Policy page.
3. What Happens After You Opt Out
Processing Time
We will process your opt-out request within 15 business days. During this time:
- Your request will be verified
- Our systems will be updated to reflect your preference
- Third-party advertising partners will be notified to remove you from targeted audiences
Confirmation
Once your request is processed, you will receive a confirmation email at the address you provided.
Persistence
Your opt-out preference will remain in effect unless you later choose to opt back in. However, please note:
- If you clear your cookies or use a different device/browser, you may need to opt out again (unless using GPC)
- If you submit new information to us (e.g., fill out a form), standard cookies may be set until you opt out again
- Using GPC provides the most persistent protection across sessions
